Lagunitas Hop Stoopid

Lagunitas Hop Stoopid Ale is a rich gold color with no visible carbonation, is a tad cloudy and it sports a lacy head.  It smells of pine, floral hops (almost like Cashmere Bouquet soap) and rich brown sugar.  This is an Imperial Double IPA out of Petaluma, CA, and another in a long line of good products from Lagunitas, although you may recal I was not a big fan of their Pils.  The malt quality is substantial with Hop Stoopid although it definitely plays second fiddle to the hops, and the extremeness of those hops doesn’t truly nail you until the finish, and it does nail you!  The lingering hop finish and bitterness is a nice souvenir from a place I’d gladly revisit.  75/100 IPA
