Don De Dieu

Named after Samuel Champlain’s ship that brought him to the New World in 1608, Don De Dieu (Gift of God, in English) lives up to its name!  This Unibroue product is deep gold and slightly hazy with a frothy, lacy head and champagne-like carbonation.  The bouquet is fruity and yeasty, citrusy, tart and fresh.  The texture is creamy and fizzy.  Don De Dieu is a delicious beer, and the taste follows the bouquet:  sweet and citric, with a boozy quality, maybe like a watered-down Lemoncella.  Nice body, sweet but not cloyingly so, on the light side as far as the assertiveness of the flavors, and surprisingly drinkable for a 9% ABV beer.  This triple wheat ale earns an 88/100 on the beerbliographer scale.
