I was a bit concerned when I read “natural hazelnut flavor added”, and saw Pugsley Brewing Co., but things worked out. Sea Dog Riverdriver Porter pours with a very big head, too much so. I could only get half the 12 oz. bottle in an imperial pint glass before I had to wait for the head to recede. It was dark brown and almost opaque, and as I said, super carbonated. The bouquet was nutty, hazel nutty, with coffee notes. A tad bitter at first, with more coffee. It retained the head well. I’ll have to give this medium-bodied and very drinkable porter
a not-bad-to-good rating. There’s some good stuff coming out of Maine.
