Pull Chain APA from Milwaukee Brewing Company is a hybrid pale ale that combines the aromatics and maltiness of English pale ales and the clean, hoppiness of American pale ales.  I don’t know if the water in Milwaukee is as hard as it is in Burton-On-Trent, but it sure holds carbonation well.  Pull Chain pours with a HUGE foamy head, so watch out!  Medium gold in color, Pull Chain coats the glass with lots of beige lace as the level drops.  The bouquet is plenty malty, but hops are well-represented and take charge, thanks to generous dry hopping and post-fermaentation aging.  Mildly piney, citrusy and papery in the nose, hints of black pepper spiciness are tempered by a big malt presence, and Pull Chain is not too dry or bitter because of its well-balanced nature.  At 5% ABV, this one is very drinkable, and not over-the-top hoppy.

90/100 APA
