Capital Brewery Maibock

Here’s one from a great midwestern brewery, Capital Brewery, in Middleton, Wisconsin.  In fact, one of the best beers I’ve ever had was on their terrace on a warm summer night, listening to live music, with my wife and friends Lu and Michelle.   Anyway, their Maibock is above average as well.  It’s gorgeous to look at to start, being deep yellow and floating a 1/2″ white head with light carbonation visible.  The bouquet is sweet, deeply sweet, and clean.  The taste is sweet as well with a pronounced alcohol feel and a lightly hoppy exhale.  There’s a bit of a nutty quality as well, manifesting in the back of the throat and on the back of the tongue, and it’s hard to accurately describe.  There is a floral quality in the finish, compliments of the hops.  It’s a really nice, really complex bock beer, and well worth your time.
